About Theatro Transcendental
The company's first production, 'The Room of Unlimited Possibilities' premiered in November 2010, and since then has toured Cyprus and participated in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011, where critics described it as "A very brave piece addressing a complex subject." They also wrote that "The performers work with skill and integrity, insisting that the search for enlightenment is a difficult, unending process. Through dance and music they give dramatic form to the most elusive of truths."
The company then went on to create a second production, "The Jhiva of Nietzsche", which premiered in November 2011 in Nicosia. The third production, "Here's What I Know About Humans, by Lulu the Dog' premièred in March 2012. Both of these productions also travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in August 2012.
In 2013, the company staged their fourth production, "Love Lies", as part of their new project "The Illusion of Separateness"; an artistic effort designed to help free humanity from the illusion that we exist as separate entities. This was then continued in 2014, with the production ''The Plastic Age''.
Theatro Transcendental launched its first workshop groups for adults in September 2011. This group then devised the production, 'Have I grown up?' together with the transcendental children's theatre group (little box theatre) established in April 2012. Both the adults and children's groups have continued to grow and produce annual original productions at the end of each season.
In 2014, the National Theatre of Cyprus (Thoc) selected a script written by Theatro Transcendental's writers, Korina Kontaxaki and Eleni Cosma, to be staged as part of their 2014-2015 production season. The play, entitled ''Which Body'', is based on true events, and will be directed by Korina Kontaxaki.
