The wait is finally over for English audiences - "The Jhiva of Nietzsche', the English version of our second production, which premiered in November in Greek, is due to premiere on Saturday 11th February, at the Youth Foundation, Larnaca. Here is our new trailer for 'The Jhiva of Nietzsche'. The music used in the trailer, is a track entitled 'life after you', and was kindly offered by Angeliki Kouali (www.reverbnation.com/AngelikiKouali) We will be performing the production in Greek on 28th January, at Artos Foundation, Nicosia, and in English on the 11th February at the Youth Foundation, Larnaca, and the 12th February at Artos Foundation, Nicosia. With the closing of the first round of performances of 'Jhiva', and with only one final performance left of the Greek version on the 28th January, we have now begun work on the English, due to premiere 11th February, at the Youth Foundation, Larnaca.
The performance will then be followed by one in Nicosia, at Artos Foundation on Sunday 12th February. All performances will be held at 7.00pm, NOT our usual 9.00pm. To book your seats for these shows, visit the production page HERE, or call us on 96384954. We are then planning to take the english version of the production to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2012. A new production is also currently under way to premiere in April. The list is entirely confidential, and your email will not be shared with any other parties. Last night marked the fourth and final (for now!) performance of 'Jhiva - In Body' at the Artos Foundation in Nicosia. The closing night was by far the most successful, with extra seats brought out last minute to accommodate our over-packed audience. The response was very promising, with audience members sending text messages and emails the next day to describe how much the production had moved them. Some analysed the specific moments that had touched them, while another read: "I felt every movement and every word inside me. What can I say? Unforgettable." We are eager to see how audiences in Larnaca and Limassol will respond in the following weeks, but as far as Nicosia is concerned, we will undoubtedly be returning with the production next term, both in Greek and in English. Theatro Transcendental's new production, 'Jhiva - In Body' premieres November 3rd, at Artos Foundation, Nicosia. Performances will continue in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca. 'Jhiva' means the immortal part of us; that which lives before we are born and continues to live after we die. But what does this immortal part of us do while we go about our everyday lives? Combining live action, multimedia and physical expression, ‘Jhiva – In Body’ traces the life of the famous philosopher, Frederich Nietzsche through the eyes of the “immortal” within him. A 'hunter' of truth, who came very close to enlightenment but collapsed due to lack of faith. What would change in our lives if we could believe in this part of us which lives on after we are gone? Click HERE for more info, and to book tickets to the show. Theatre holds powerful tools of communication and expression, while Yoga works towards building a strong physical body through postures, as well as a strong emotional and mental system through the concentration and meditation techniques. What could happen if we were to combine these two? This question has led us into designing our specialised 'transcendental' theatre workshops. These workshops will include a warm-up yoga session, followed by theatrical games which will train both body and mind to confidently perform onstage, and close with relaxation and concentration. The stage training offered however, will simply be the selected method for our more significant goal – to discover more about ourselves, to explore and to maximise our own abilities not only within the theatrical spectrum, but in our everyday lives also. Kicking off with a free trial session on the 5th October, we will begin our weekly transcendental theatre workshops for both adults and children. Workshops will take place at the French School, Arthur Rimbaud, Old Nicosia, 4.30-6.30pm for 7-12yrs and 7-9pm for adults. To book a place for the free session, call 96384954, or email us: [email protected]. For more information also check www.theatrotranscendental.com We have just returned from this years Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where we took our production "The Room of Unlimited Possibilities". The experience was truly unique, and has charged us with the energy and inspiration we needed to create original new works here in Cyprus.
Critics wrote: "A very brave piece addressing a complex subject; it is not an easy watch, but who said reaching the room of unlimited possibilities would be easy? The performers work with skill and integrity, insisting that the search for enlightenment is a difficult, unending process. Through dance and music they give dramatic form to the most elusive of truths." (www.fringeguru.com) Audience members also responded very positively, "I was blown away by the extraordinary performance by the lead and the wonderful musical effects throughout the show. An excellent example of thetrical power on stage." wrote an audience member on the website broadwaybaby.com. Others waited for us after the show, and even stopped us in the streets to tell us how much the show had meant to them. Naturally, not all responses were positive, but we were very pleased with even the criticism given - all of this has helped us to work towards bettering our future work. We will soon be announcing the details of our new production, 'Jhiva - In Body', which will premiere this November, and will be played in all of Cyprus' main towns, in English as well as in Greek. We will also soon provide details for the weekly transcendental theatre workshops we will be offering in Nicosia, for children and adults, so keep checking back for more information. See our Travels page for more photographs from the trip, or for thoughts raised during our adventure, read our blog on www.transcendentalfringe.blogspot.com 'The Room of Unlimited Possibilities' will be played for three more performances in English.
